Elm Altar Table From Shanxi - 19thC Material - Red Coral Features: Extra-long farmhouse benchThis Chinese altar table is made in classic Ming style dating from the 19th century and from Shanxi province in Northern China. Originally fully lacquered with black lacquer, the top lacquer has long since worn from everyday use revealing a beautiful northern elm grain. Old incense marks and wear can be seen on the top giving a good patina. Perfect for a small desk in a study or as a dressing table. Altar tables were used for ancestor worship in China
